“ Great chips, will be back to try a supper, but will bring cash next time as they dont have a card machine (but do accept payment in bank transfer) best chips I’ve ever had from a money laundering front! Edit; having had the owner accuse me of attempted theft in response to my honest (albeit tongue in cheek) review of the service side of his operation I am editing to clarify - at no point did I attempt to leave without payment ( please feel free to add any cctv that suggests otherwise) I did however suggest that the margin in fried potatoes was surely healthy enough to carry card payment facilities when I was asked to make payment by bank transfer. As the first payment didn’t go through because it triggered a fraud protection response from my bank and I had to make a visual verification to make the second payment go through I think I am entitled to my money laundering quip. In this day in age I am always puzzled by a business that goes out of its way to avoid taking card payments, even more so by one that has such incredibly thin skin about why it chooses to do so. I can only come to the conclusion that it has something to do with either avoiding tax or some type of fraud. Feel free to enlighten me, but keep the accusations accurate. ”

“ What a chippy. Theo and the lovely lady that helps serve have just absolutely nailed it. I have been coming here for several years and have never been let down. Unfortunately I think it is a rarity now a days to find an actual decent fish and chips, you can either do it or you can’t. Theo knows how to do a decent fish and chips. We’ve been plenty and ordered most things off the menu but the big shout out goes to the fish. It’s always cooked to order, super fresh, cooked to perfection and massive - this makes it for me. Chips/sausage/pies/gravy etc all brill too, but the fish is my favourite. We unfortunately do not live locally now but whenever we return to the area to see family we always make the effort to come to The Dorchester because it really is so much better than other local fish and chips - especially those near us! The prices are fair for what you get, I’m sure there may be cheaper chippys in the area, we haven’t checked, only because I don’t mind to pay for the quality you receive. You get huge portions as well, no messing about. Another thing to mention is how clean the premises is. You can really tell Theo and his team take care and effort in the workplace and their business.
